Juke Kartel is a big deal in their native Australia, who have shared the stage with big names like Ozzy Osbourne, Fergie, and Slash. With their second release Levolution, they hope to conquer the rest of the world .  The rallying cry is “Anybody Out There” from the album, testing the waters and waiting for an enthusiastic YES! from the US and the rest of the world.

In order to familiarize their international audience with their earlier material, Juke Kartel penned six new songs produced by Brian Virtue (Jane’s Addiction, Velvet Revolver, 30 Seconds to Mars, Chevelle) and Rick Parashar (Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, 3 Doors Down, Nickelback) and added half dozen songs from their Australia-only debut Nowhere Left to Hide. Their world conquest seems to be on the right track with Parashar’s ringing endorsement: “Juke Kartel is one of the best bands to come out in a long time. They definitely are on their way to being a commercial arena rock band, with a ‘60s, grunge-like quality that gives them an edge.”

Juke Kartel’s fast rise from local “larrikins” to national stardom has given them a lot of food for thought, which defines the themes in Levolution. The album explores everything from relationships, including a disarming moment of being shot down by a potential date, to a life of excess to car crashes and consequences. With varied subject matters come different tones and musical textures. Some songs rise and soar on powerful vocals while others feature off-kilter rhythms and syncopation, but it’s all tied together with masterful songwriting, arrangement, and hook-driven catchiness.

Will Juke Kartel succeed outside of their native land? The magic eight ball says, “Outlook good.” With their proven track record in Australia and a strong endorsement from industry heavyweights, there is a good chance Juke Kartel will thrive outside the friendly hothouse.
