Equilibrium began as a one-off project with an expiration date: they got together to play one show, once only, and ended up continuing as a band almost a decade and three official albums later. The original members René, Sandra, Andi, Hati, and Helge got together in 2001 to play a concert, which was so well-received that they decided to continue working together as a band. Their melodic metal of mythic proportions caught on with fans everywhere, propelling them to success and sign to Nuclear Blast, one of the most iconic metal labels around.
In 2003, Equilibrium released a demo that was eagerly consumed by the public as a legit album rather than just a demo. This led to them signing to a record label and releasing Turis Fratyr in 2005. Unfortunately, their relationship with the label soured and several metal labels courted Equilibrium for their rosters. Eventually, they signed with Nuclear Blast in 2006 and released their second album Sagas in 2008. It immediately entered the German Media Control Charts at #30.Earlier in 2010, Equilibrium began to record a new album with Robse, the new vocalist. Though you’d expect a getting-to-know-you period of awkwardness and experimentation, the band fell into a working rhythm immeidately and Robse was a perfect fit with his powerful presence to augment the epic sound of Equilibrium. The result of their work, the new album Rekreatur, continues with their larger-than-life melodic metal with exotic flourishes of hymns and battle-worn ruggedness. You can play along with a cut from Rekreatur “Die Affeninsel” on JamLegend.
